Note that these brahma viharas, if practiced rightly, result in rebirth in the brahma world (i.e., the heavenly realm in their next life). However, if the three characteristics of impermanence (i.e., annica), enduring/suffering (i.e., dukkha), and not-self (i.e., anattā) are realized having developed these, nibbāna may be realized at death.
