MAIN CONCERN / A PROVISIONAL READING
Continuity without erasing difference.
How can I live the dedication I have received in the form I choose, while making room for others without requiring sameness? Across the About text, this is the recurring concern I propose to organize around.
Working conceptualization. This is a comparison of authored self-presentation, not a completed, theoretically saturated study of a community. One candidate core category integrates five related substantive categories. Their names remain revisable.
The history of the term, its changing meanings, and Shugyōkai’s reading of it.

It began with shugyō.
Shugyōkai began in 1998, dedicated to shugyō. Poems, records, and materials for practice became ways of carrying what was received into daily life. Translation, art, and research grew within that dedication.
Shugyō was not an explanation added afterward. It was the reason this place began.
CANDIDATE CORE CATEGORY / NOT FIVE COMPETING CORES
Keeping the vow livable.
This is the provisional core category: the recurring work of making a dedication possible to live under changing conditions. It is neither the preservation of an earlier appearance nor the assumption that a new appearance, by itself, fulfills a vow.
Inhabiting a chosen form, carrying what was received, making relation tangible, revisiting a reading, and welcoming difference can each contribute to that work. None needs to become a separate identity.

SUBSTANTIVE CATEGORY
Inhabiting a chosen form
Embodied continuity; chosen specificity rather than substitutability.

Rubber is my robe of practice. Living as a rubber sex dog, reading and translating a poem, arranging flowers, and asking a question do not require me to become different people. Prayer, desire, play, and care belong to one life.
Latex Space-Coyote is the only me I truly want and desire to be. My chosen form has its page; the way here has its history. The earlier record is not a selection of replacements for who I choose to be now.

COMPARATIVE MEMO · C1
Indicators: rubber as sacrament; naming as lived change; sensory and bodily vulnerability.
Work in the model: Latex chooses and lives the form; the site makes that choice legible and records its making.
A declared identity is not evidence of a clinical effect or a demonstrated biological transformation.
C2 / CARRYING RECEIVED PRACTICE
History is a relation, not a replacement.
SUBSTANTIVE CATEGORY
Carrying received practice
Continuity of dedication while its setting and expression vary.
COMPARATIVE MEMO · C2
Indicators: apprenticeship archive; practice translated rather than abandoned; return beyond the dōjō.
Work in the model: Latex responds to teaching through conduct; the site preserves lineage, memoir, dates, and attribution.
A record of reception does not confer a teacher’s endorsement of every present interpretation.
C3 / GIVING RELATION A MATERIAL FORM
Follow the work that brought you here.
SUBSTANTIVE CATEGORY
Giving relation a material form
An intention acquires a perceivable, revisitable form without all media becoming identical.

Indicators: calligraphy, poems, translation; shrine/loom imagery; ikebana and material practice.
Work in the model: Latex makes and tends; the site provides editions, images, context, credits, and routes into the shrine.
Making something visible does not by itself establish shared access, understanding, or empirical truth.
C4 / COMPARING AND REVISING
Comparing and revising.
SUBSTANTIVE CATEGORY
Comparing and revising
Interpretations remain revisable and their source status distinguishable.
Inquiry earns a distinct place when an interpretation can change in response to comparison. The existence of a Lab is an indicator of this commitment, not a demonstration that every proposal has been tested.

Indicators: experimental Lab; Beyonding and mediation-model references; distinct records and reference list.
Work in the model: Latex examines and revises; the site keeps sources, research notes, methods, and work-specific disclosures available.

COMPARATIVE MEMO · C5
Indicators: harmony made porous; refuge; affective hospitality and queer/neurodivergent fellowship.
Work in the model: Latex offers attention and care; the site offers multiple entrances and distinguishes reading from joining.

MAKING & SOURCE CONTEXT / RETAINED TEXT
Keep the account with the work.
The supplied photographic graphic at the top of this design is reproduced with AI modifications changing prototype eyes, fursuit pattern on rubber skin, and seamless paw-suit integration; the posture is also generated via vector mathematics. It is not a newly generated replacement. No photographer or additional production history is inferred here.
AI assisted the drafting and implementation of this revision. The new writing is proposed first-person copy for my review, not a newly authenticated quotation from a teacher. The original text, imagery, sources, and links remain in the record below.
The earlier introduction keeps its own wording, images, sources, and links. It is retained as a record, not silently reissued as a newly verified account.

METHOD / REVISABLE CONCEPTUAL SORT
What this working account is—and is not.
The primary material is the retrieved bilingual About self-presentation. The preceding About draft is retained as editorial content, not counted as independent corroborating evidence. Japanese and English versions of a passage are treated as paired expressions, not two separate observations.
The main concern names what is being addressed; the core category names its recurring handling. Substantive categories name related activities. Theoretical codes specify their proposed relationships. This focused comparison does not claim completed theoretical sampling, saturation, or observed community-wide outcomes.
Glaser cautions against forcing a favorite relational form onto the material; Hernandez distinguishes substantive categories from the codes that integrate them. The site’s own primer calls for comparison, memo sorting, and modifiability. Method references ↓
A01–A06 · About Shugyōkai: refusal of an either/or choice; archive/Lab/shrine; translated practice; a porous vow; textual making; a hospitable public place.
A07–A13 · About Latex: embodied naming; early encounters; apprenticeship and changed circumstances; personal motto; shrine/loom relation; rubber and vulnerability; inquiry, arts, and hospitality.
A14 · References and navigation: preserved works, credits, records, and routes. These identify a document trail; they do not verify each proposition.
D1 · Earlier About v2: editorial context and retained copy, not new evidence. In particular, the inquiry/revision category is fuller in the draft and GT primer than in the older About account.
Comparisons still needed: welcome without practical access; revision refused; continuity requiring no outward change; care provided without shared symbols; maintenance or health constraints that narrow participation; visitors who decline affiliation yet receive respectful engagement.
THEORETICAL INTEGRATION
Theoretical codes are the relations.
These are candidate relational forms suggested by the comparisons—not five additional topics. They do not impose a fixed stages model or assign measured causal effects.
Provisitonal relational memo sort:
| Code | Relation | Categories | Proposition | Qualification | Useful contrast |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| R1 | Translation across conditions | C2 ↔ C1 / C3 | The dedication can persist while body, setting, medium, and expression change. | Changed circumstance invites another expression, not automatic abandonment. | Compare cases where an unchanged form preserves the practice better than adaptation. |
| R2 | Means–ends integration | C1 + C2 + C3 + C4 + C5 → core | Several different kinds of work contribute to keeping a vow livable. | The categories are related means, not ranks or necessary stages. | Compare impressive output that leaves the founding dedication less livable. |
| R3 | Reciprocity / feedback | C3 ↔ C4; C5 → C4 | An encounter with a work or another person can lead to comparison and revision. | The return path is a proposition requiring concrete incidents. | Find corrections refused, ignored, or successfully incorporated. |
| R4 | Conditional relationship / boundary | C5 conditions C1–C3 | Shared participation fits the concern only when it does not require self-erasure or compulsory sameness. | Time, access, care, and practical limits qualify what can be sustained. | Ask who cannot enter or participate, even when the welcome sounds open. |
| R5 | Consequence / continuing resolution | core → renewed practice and participation | Resolution is maintained through conduct, not completed by a declaration. | Consequences remain proposed until supported by observations beyond the page. | Look for maintenance failures, rest, withdrawal, and care without similar symbols. |

THE INTEGRATING WORK
Keeping the vow livable.
Continuity of dedication without erasing difference.
LATEX SPACE-COYOTE
Lives, selects, makes, interprets, tends, and responds.
SHUGYŌKAI
Preserves the record; connects works and contexts; makes sources and invitations available.
Proposed consequence: renewed practice and participation.
What happens in the next encounter returns as material for comparison, correction, or a change in how the vow is lived.
Encounter → compare → revise → return to living.
In this model, the site does not live on someone’s behalf. It retains records, connects a work to its context, and offers entrances into another encounter. My part is how I answer beyond the page.
DISCUSSION / FIT, WORK, RELEVANCE, MODIFIABILITY
Continuity is not sameness.
Why not simply “transformation”? Change of appearance alone does not explain gratitude, preserving a source, tending materials, or welcoming another. “Keeping the vow livable” leaves both change and continuity open to examination.
History does not replace the present. Transmission need not mean reproducing an earlier appearance; inhabiting the chosen form need not mean discarding the record. Choice and history can remain without being treated as competing portraits.
Connection does not abolish distinctions. Embodiment, shrine, poetry, translation, and inquiry can be related without sharing a single evidentiary status. The earlier cosmological language remains part of the author’s self-presentation; this conceptual model does not turn it into a verified physical mechanism.
Hospitality has to reach beyond its description. Writing “welcome” does not show that everyone can participate. How people are treated when they question, decline, leave, or return is a useful next comparison. The present page gives a commitment; those encounters would develop the category.
The core is provisional; my identity is not a research outcome to award or withdraw. A better explanatory category would change the model, not grant someone else the right to choose my form.
For now, the working proposition is this: a dedication becomes more livable when its expressions can change without severing what matters, and when those expressions make room for response rather than require resemblance. This remains an account to compare, not a finding established by repetition.
Revision need not betray a vow. It can help distinguish what supports that life from what obstructs it. This page remains part of that work in progress.
