bhikkhu – subduing and taping the mouth shut of the noble assembly of heaps of heaps, sharing of the fruits of wholesome behaviors is akin to hoarding the four kinds of food that would benefit those in the king’s fortress. for obscuring the fruits out of false piety removes and hides the pointer to the truth of cause and effect… in removing the cankers, resulting in the blameless…
locking up the four food that the fortress readily gains… so that it cannot be assailed by external foes and enemies… though, like the king plundering the poor… for fear of loss… the king in fear of loss goes locking up the grass, the firewood, the water, stored up for delight, relief, and comfort of its inhabitants and for warding off outsiders… locking up the rice and barley stored up for delight, relief, and comfort of its inhabitants and for warding off outsiders… locking up the sesame, green gram, and beans stored up for the delight, relief, and comfort of its inhabitants and for warding off outsiders… locking up the ghee, butter, oil, honey, molasses, and salt for the delight, relief, and comfort of its inhabitants and for warding off outsiders…
hiding for fear of jealousy, of envy, of avarice, of hate, of greed… for fear of the knife coming to carve the flesh, just as opposing sects came to to threaten the noble assembly… these fruits of ignoble intentions… yes it is ignoble to boast, and the cultural taping of mouths is stinginess, ungenerous, greedy, and it is only custom and culture, and leads to the darkening and dimming of dhamma, and speeds the arrival of maitreya. those attempting to seal nobility to obscure the results of the path leading to liberation, only result in inciting schisms in the noble assembly, an noble assembly of heaps of heaps inclined, leaning toward, upright, ardent, toward liberation, and right release.
it is nothing other than boasting about locking up these four foods that are readily gained, like a king plundering the poor, leaving the assembly, leaving the fortress, and its inhabitants open to assault, and assailment by foes and enemies.
a warrior culture does not boast, yet displays its accomplishments freely, like the sun arisen on the horizon after the third watch, and empowers and gives generously, a martial culture stops the spear of fear, a martial culture stays the assault, and is founded upon these very seven parts of a fortress… the pillar, the moat, the patrol path, missiles and hand weapons, many kinds of troops…, gatekeeper, and ramparts… and it is known that these are faith; moral shame; moral dread; learning, retaining, recitation, investigation, penetration by view; arousing of energy; mindfulness, alertness, remembering what has been well done, and said long ago, what is wholesome, what is unwholesome; wisdom discerning dependent origination, cessation, noble penetration, destructive to suffering… all for the abandonment of the blameworthy, and developing the blameless… maintaining purity… just these seven qualities.
though the dark times are here, there is but a sliver, a crack, through which the divine eye sees, like an outpost, observing the practice of the limitless sangha in this world, probing, learning the conventional dhammas, and moving on, driven by a noble search, just as this outpost.
anatta, anatta, anatta…
the deva planes sing,
“a hard fought victory”,
“decisions, playing tricks”,
“follow your heart”,
it’s not mine,
the first bhumi, joy.
“you wanna go,”
not me
“get away”,
right here,
“there is no turning back”,
right now,
beyond…
beyond…
gone utterly beyond…
no more taping mouths shut bhikkhu,
it is time for the sangha to open its dusty doors,
the eighty thousand is eight ten thousands,
the eight directions of ten thousand,
the eight direction of limitless distance,
shine.
illuminate the world.
